Looking to streamline your data sourcing and research process? Bardeen connects Google Maps with Airtable in a way that accelerates the collection of pertinent information. With this automation, you can scrape data from Google Maps search cards and save it directly to an Airtable database. It's a perfect solution for research, data sourcing, or sales prospecting, allowing you to gather valuable data in no time.

Here is how this workflow works:

  1. Scrape data on active tab: Using the Scraper command, we extract data from the active tab on Google Maps. The Scraper extracts a specified number of list items, using the template "Google Maps search results (by Bardeen)".
  2. Scrape data in the background: Next, the Scraper works in the background to extract more data, this time using the template "Google Maps location card (by Bardeen)". It scrapes the links to pages that were extracted in the previous step.
  3. Add data to Airtable: Finally, the data collected by the Scraper is added to a specified Airtable table. Airtable functions as a spreadsheet but with the power of a database, making it ideal for organizing large amounts of information.

Let’s set it up!

Step 1: Create an Airtable

The first step is to create an Airtable with all the information you want to save.

Bardeen will extract information from the currently opened Google Maps search cards like business name, image, type of business, location, phone number, rating, card URL, and more! It will then save the information to your Airtable once your setup is complete.

Step 2: Install the extension and run the playbook

You will be redirected to install the browser extension when you run it for the first time. Bardeen will also prompt you to integrate Airtable.

Click the “Pin it” button at the top of this page to get this automation saved to your Playbooks.

Activate Bardeen (or hit Option + B on Mac or ALT + B on PC on your keyboard) and click on the playbook card, and the setup flow will start.

You will be asked to specify your database and the number of Google Maps cards you would like to save. After you choose the database and number of cards, you will get a prompt to map the information to the fields in Airtable.

The left side consists of all the fields Bardeen will scrape for you. On the right side, specify the fields in Airtable that you want to associate with the information on the left. If you don’t want a piece of information, leave that field empty, and it will be skipped. That’s it!

Click on “Save Input” and checkmark Airtable. You can edit Inputs later by hovering over the playbook.

Step 3: Run the automation to scrape Google Maps results to Airtable

To save information from Google Maps search cards to Airtable in one click, complete your Google Maps search and navigate to the search results page.

Activate Bardeen (or hit Option + B on Mac or ALT + B on PC on your keyboard) and run this playbook. It will open each card, extract the information and add all of the details to the Airtable that you specified in Step #1.
