How does this automation work?
With Bardeen's integration with OpenAI and Notion, you can effortlessly streamline your task management process. This playbook identifies action items in any selected text using OpenAI's natural language processing capabilities and adds them directly to a Notion database as to-do tasks. This automation allows you to capture important tasks quickly, reducing the likelihood of overlooking important action items and improving productivity.
Here is how this workflow works:
- Trigger on Right-Click: This workflow is activated when you right-click on a webpage. The selected text is then captured and sent to OpenAI for action item extraction.
- Extract Action Items with OpenAI: OpenAI's artificial intelligence processes the selected text and identifies action items. This step is crucial for accurate task creation in Notion.
- Create Notion Page: The action items identified by OpenAI are then added to a Notion database as individual tasks. Notion serves as an all-in-one workspace, allowing you to manage these tasks effectively.
- Notification: Finally, a browser notification is opened to inform you that the tasks have been successfully created in Notion. This step ensures you are kept informed of the automation process.
How to run the playbook
Imagine someone sends you a Slack message or a long email with a bunch of to-dos. You will need to decipher the text, find action items in your Notion database, and hope that nothing slipped through the cracks. Not to mention switching back and forth between tabs…
This automation will recognize action items in selected text using OpenAI and add them to Notion. Just like this:

As discussed, let's close the loop on the action items from this week's AI hackathon:
- Giovanni should make the magic box work by next week
- Mat should ship playbook synthesis by next quarter
- Ori to share the results of our week-long hackathon on Twitter this weekend
- I should recommend Bardeen to my fellow Notion geeks.
- Artem should learn how to make better pasta next time ;)
Cheers.
