How does this automation work?
How to run the playbook
GitHub is an excellent way for developers to showcase their skills and work. It is also convenient for employers to find and contact potential candidates.
Access to developers' email addresses is helpful for getting in touch with potential collaborators, asking for help with troubleshooting, or researching a potential candidate's qualifications and skills.
Usually, you would have to navigate to a GitHub developer's profile and manually find any social links or email addresses. Developers often don't have a public email address listed, increasing the time it takes to research.
This automation will be your new secret weapon.
Enter a list of GitHub profile links, and watch the magic happen. It will go through each link and find all the email addresses and social media links. Then, it will compile all this information in a Google Sheet spreadsheet, saving you time.
Let's set it up!
Step 1: Create a Google Sheets spreadsheet
💡 Skip the step if you already have a Google Sheets spreadsheet to store the information.
The first step is to create a Google Sheets spreadsheet for the profile information you want to store. You can also create the spreadsheet on the fly when you run the automation.
Bardeen will scan all the profile links and save important information like Email addresses and social media links for each profile.
Step 2: Run the playbook to add GitHub users’ emails and social media links to Google Sheets
Click the “Pin it” button at the top of this page to save this automation to your Playbook. You will be redirected to download the browser extension if you don’t have the Bardeen extension installed. You’ll also be prompted to integrate Google Drive.
Now you can start saving profile information. Press Option + B on your keyboard to wake Bardeen. Click on the playbook card, and the setup flow will start.
You will be asked to add the links for the GİtHub Profiles and the name of the Google Sheets spreadsheet to store the information. You can also create a Google Sheets spreadsheet during this step.
Once you have specified the arguments, click on “Save Input” and checkmark Google Sheets. You can edit Inputs later by hovering over the playbook.
You can also edit the playbook and customize the automation further. You can save all information to a Notion database, Airtable, or send them as an email or Slack message.
Step 3: Run the automation to add GitHub users’ emails and social media links to Google Sheets
Once you have a list of profiles activate Bardeen (or hit OPTİON + B) and run this playbook. It will save the profile information as a new row for each link.
This automation is fantastic for employers who want to contact the GitHub user directly to discuss job opportunities.
It's also useful for hiring managers that want to get in touch with potential hires and gauge their interest in new opportunities.
