Get a summary of the current page using OpenAI and save it into Notion
This is a Bardeen playbook. It's a pre-built automation template you can run in one-click to perform a repetitive task. Get started with our free Chrome extension.
How does this automation work?
Bardeen connects OpenAI with Notion to help you save time on reading online articles. The OpenAI integration allows you to summarize the content of the currently open webpage. By saving these summaries into a Notion database, you can quickly refer back to them later. This can be useful for everything from market research to personal learning.
Here is how this workflow works:
- Get current page as HTML: This command extracts the HTML from the currently open page. This is the raw content that will be summarized in later steps.
- Convert HTML to Text: The HTML obtained in the previous step is converted into plain text, which can be processed by OpenAI.
- Get summary of text with OpenAI: The text from the previous step is summarized using OpenAI. This summary will be saved into Notion.
- Get Current Page URL: The URL of the current page is obtained. This URL will be saved into Notion alongside the summary.
- Get Tabs: This command retrieves all open tabs in the browser. It's used here to ensure the URL obtained in the previous step matches the tab you're interested in.
- Create Notion page: A new page is created in your specified Notion database. The page will contain the summary and URL obtained in previous steps. Notion is a powerful note-taking and organization tool.
