Generate tasks from selected text and add them to Jira.
This is a Bardeen playbook. It's a pre-built automation template you can run in one-click to perform a repetitive task. Get started with our free Chrome extension.
How does this automation work?
Bardeen's integration with OpenAI and Jira unlocks a new way to automate your task creation and assignment workflows. This workflow scans selected text on any webpage for action items using OpenAI, a powerful AI research and deployment company. The action items are then automatically added as tasks to Jira, a popular issue tracking tool for product development. With this automation, you can ensure that important tasks are never overlooked, and your team's productivity is boosted.
Here is how this workflow works:
- Right-click on a Website: This command is triggered when you right-click on a webpage. It captures the selected text for further processing.
- List Action Items with OpenAI: The selected text is fed into OpenAI's model to extract actionable tasks. The AI model understands the context of the text and identifies tasks that need to be executed.
- Create Jira Issue: The tasks identified by OpenAI are then added to your specified Jira project as new issues. This ensures that the tasks are tracked and completed efficiently.
How to run the playbook
Context switching and app switching can be major productivity killers. It's easy to get derailed when we have to stop what we're doing and switch to a completely different task. However, there are times when we encounter things that we want to remind ourselves to do later. This can be especially challenging when we're in the middle of something else and don't want to lose our momentum.
This automation converts the selected text into a task, and creates a task in Jira with the content.
That's where automation can come in handy. By automating certain tasks, we can streamline our workflows and reduce the need for context switching. For example, if you use Jira to manage your projects, you can create Jira tickets from anywhere without leaving your current workflow. This means you can quickly capture your ideas and to-dos without losing your focus on your current task.

By taking advantage of automation tools like this, you can become more efficient and effective in your work. Instead of constantly shifting your attention from one task to another, you can stay focused on the task at hand while still capturing important ideas and tasks for later. This can help you work more productively and ultimately achieve better results.
